Virginia Leonnig & Elisabeth Sullivan, Team 4

Virginia Leonnig is an award winning artist who has been exhibiting her artwork since 1972. Her work has been shown in many juried exhibitions including those presented by The Watercolor Society of Maryland, The Washington State Pastel Society and numerous juried shows and competitions in Oregon. She has been a teacher of drawing as well as watercolor and also was the creator of a successful artist cooperative in Baltimore, Maryland.

Virginia’s art has been tremendously influenced by a two year sailing adventure with her husband. Both the constant movement of the boat and the vibrant colors found in the tropics of Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama are themes seen in her current work. She is fascinated by finding ways to put motion in her work and the simplification, abstraction, and bending of shapes to produce emotion, drama and movement within her paintings. “My landscapes are meant to express the power and mystery I find in nature.”
