John Larsen holds a BFA from Pacific Northwest College of Art. His work has been exhibited at TANK, Quartersaw, Sugar from the Bone, Blackfish Gallery, and has recently participated in Deitch Projects 2007 Art Parade in NYC. With an interest in the emerging field of social sculpture, he imbues his work with a shaky optimism that is just beyond the reach of the former sarcastic approach. For 10 years Larsen has worked as an artisan for Michael Curry Design, an internationally acclaimed studio specializing in theatrical engineering and Puppetry arts. He has been the Lead Art Director for the past 6 years and is a core member of the design team. Larsen also maintains a music studio practice from which he has recorded 5 full-length albums. Performances at the Doug Fir, Holocene, and the Bossanova Ballroom all have included a video component to his music.
