David Dunning

David Dunning, a fifth generation Oregonian, studied art and theater at the University of Oregon, then moved to San Francisco to study graphic and industrial design. While living there he jumped on the Painted Ladies movement of the 70’s and 80’s, working on restoration and polychrome painting in the city’s classic Victorian homes. His work has appeared in books documenting that movement.

David's color design work developed into specialty finishes, including marbleizing and wood graining. His work not only appeared in Metropolitan Home and Architectural Digest, but his clientele included the rich and famous! Names like Linda Ronstadt, Bobby McFerrin, Danny Glover and Larry Ellison are only a few that top that list.

Still living in California in the 80’s, David’s talents naturally spilled over into the world of computer imaging but he’s remained true to his first love, graphic design - and that remains his day job today.
