| Michael DeForest
Michael has been a professional woodworker since 1975. He has taught in the Wood Department of Oregon College of Art and Craft since 1993 and taught children woodworking at Catlin Gabel School since 1996. He received his MFA in Furniture in 2001 from Minneapolis College of Art and Design and has been an adjunct professor in the BFA program at OCAC since graduating. During this time his work has evolved from commercial cabinetry; to one-of-a-kind fine hardwood furniture, to painted and carved objects, tables and chairs; to figurative wooden sculpture.
His latest work has used clay to create compound curved forms which he uses to bend wood to make parts for furniture and objects.
